  • What is marketing?

Last night, I sat in on my first #blogchat hosted by @MackCollier – the topic was blog burnout and I found the experience to be incredibly valuable.

You see, I am more of a ‘quality’ over ‘quantity’ type of person and I have struggled with the concept of “a post a day”, which is something the more popular bloggers use as a topic every 30 to 45 days. (Hmm, maybe that’s one of their own ‘writers block’ topics!?)

Anyway, #blogchat was very interesting and helpful- and I recommend it to anyone wondering how to put Twitter to good use. (Here’s a link to the transcript from last night’s chat.)

But by now you are wondering about the title of this post – what is marketing and how does it relate to blog burnout?

Remember, “The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well, the product or service fits him and sells itself.”

Mack is a social media consultant and, from what I can tell, a pretty good one.  So his #blogchat (a regular Sunday evening event, I believe) is a great way to get to know the customer and let his leadership and expertise sell itself.

Damn good marketing.  Low cost.  Great response.
